"When I began online research for my book 'Why Women Are Single', I came across this video clip. To be honest, I was actually surprised by the 70% numbers.  As I watched it several times and did some additional research, I decided to write 'Why Black Women Are Single - Exploring the Dating Backlash Against African American Women.'  I thought it would be a more relevant project at this time, 'Why Women Are Single' would have to wait till 2010.  So in a sense, this is the clip that started it all."
